About me
My name is Anne Genders, and my core values are rest, adventure, warmth, and openness.
As a child, I already had a rich inner world, many interests, and a strong intuitive sense (which was not always acknowledged by those around me). With these qualities, I sometimes found it difficult to feel connected to the world. I didn’t really know how to handle this, and gradually I began to shut down parts of myself and to adapt more and more. At school, and later in my work in IT, I appeared successful on the outside, but inside I felt stress and anxiety. I drifted further and further away from my true self.
Fortunately, in 2015, I experienced burnout. My life was put on hold. Slowly, and with many ups and downs, I began to return to myself and learned to take better care of my needs. In my search for healing, I encountered the limits of conventional healthcare and started to explore other possibilities. I read books about consciousness and attended a 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat. A whole new world opened up to me.
In 2019, out of curiosity, I attended an introductory evening at Reikicentre de Oorsprong in The Hague. During that evening, it felt as if all kinds of loose pieces clicked into place. I had the sense of arriving at the place where I truly belonged. In January 2020, I received my first-degree initiation into Reiki from my Reiki Master, Marcel Vis. This marked the beginning of a magical journey and a path that I know I will follow for the rest of my life. In June 2022, I received the second-degree initiation. Three years later, I felt it was time for the next step and I became a Reiki Master candidate.
Reiki has touched me deeply, in both heart and soul. Since my first initiation, I have been giving myself daily treatments. I also treat others with great joy, and I often return to the Reiki Centre for additional courses and treatment evenings. The centre has become a true home for me. The Reiki community feels like a warm bath: a place full of support and much heartfelt laughter.
Over the years, I have experienced how much Reiki does for me, and I have developed an unshakeable trust in Reiki and its practice. Through Reiki, I feel more grounded, I release old patterns, and I experience increasing openness and trust. For me, Reiki is a gift — and it is a gift I want to share with others.
